The confirmation ministry is a 3 1/2-year program which starts in 6th grade. Word of Peace partners with parents to provide students an opportunity to learn, grow in faith, serve others, form Christian relationships, and prepare them to affirm their baptismal promises in January of their 9th grade year.
Confirmation Worship Note
We acknowledge that it is not everyone’s goal to work towards Affirmation of Baptism. Therefore, Word of Peace offers a 2-track confirmation program and families choose which track is right for them.
Track 1 results in Affirmation of Baptism in 9th grade and there are requirements in place to help students work towards that goal.
Track 2 is a more relaxed track of not having to fulfill requirements. Your child will participate in the confirmation ministry but will not be confirmed at the end of the 3-year program.
Confirmation takes place on Wednesday evenings at either 5:30-7 PM or 6:30-8 PM. When registering, please choose the session that will ensure the most consistent attendance for your child.
2019-20 Registration is now open. Register online or pick up a paper registration form from the Youth Ministry office.
Beginning in September of their 9th grade year, students will choose from several options to fulfill their 9th grade requirements and prepare for their Affirmation of Baptism.
Students affirm their baptismal promises in January of their 9th grade year. This means that upon being confirmed at Word of Peace, your child is making a public profession of their faith, promising to live among God’s faithful people, hear the word of God and share in the Lord’s Supper, proclaim the good news of God in Christ through word and deed, serve all people following the example of Jesus, and strive for justice and peace in all the earth.
