    ABOUT SMALL GROUP MINISTRY

    As we desire to grow in our Christian faith, we continually want to become closer to God. No matter what stage you are at in your journey, Word of Peace offers multiple opportunities to learn and grow in your faith and develop supportive friendships with other Christians.

    Word of Peace offers a variety of small groups and adult education opportunities for those looking to connect with others in our congregation.

    A small group is a gathering of approximately 5-15 people. These groups are lead by members of our congregation and offer opportunites for:

    •  Fellowsip 
    •   Socializing
    •   Support

    FIX-IT FELLOWSHIP

    1st Wednesday/Month, 9:00 AM — Noon

    Word of Peace Lutheran Church

    Men and women of the church who meet the 1st Wednesday of each month to “fix-up” things around the church and share in the opportunity for coffee and fellowship.

    THE GREATEST STORY: A SECOND LOOK

    Wednesday Evenings, 6:30 PM

    Whether we are children or adults, we love to hear good stories. This past fall, our congregation experienced the greatest story of all - the Bible. For those who did not have a chance to participate, come revisit the journey for a second time. Led by Parish Worker Beth Brekke, come explore the significance of 15 elavorate sand illustrations during this abbreviated study beginning January 18. We will discuss what you witness as the artist creates these illustrations and how it relates to your faith and the story of the Bible. 

    KNIT WITS 

    1st Monday/Month, 6:30—8:00 PM

    Knit WITS are Women Interested in Talking. We are a casual group who welcomes anyone interested in knitting or crocheting. We have patterns and welcome anyone who would like to join us for a couple of hours of fiber arts and chatting. Our prayer shawl ministry is a great way to get to know a few new people and to create items of comfort for others. If you would like to learn, or refresh your knitting skills, we will help you out! Join us the 1st Monday of each month in the church library.

    MEN'S BREAKFAST & BIBLE STUDY

    2nd Saturday/Month, 7:30—9:00 AM

    Open to all men, this Bible study on the 2nd Saturday morning of each month offers a free, continental breakfast of rolls, juice and coffee (sometimes even egg bake, bacon and sausage) followed by a meaningful exploration and discussion of a book of the Bible.

    MEN'S NIGHT

    Sunday Evenings, 7:00—8:30 PM

    Come for a great night of Bible exploration & discussion. A study will take place from 7:00—8:30 PM occasionally followed by basketball in the multi-purpose room. All men of every age are welcome. We are a very laidback group, come when you can.

    MONDAYS WITH MOMS

    Monday Mornings, 9:30 AM

    Word of Peace Gathering Area

    Mondays with Moms, a study and fellowship group for mothers with children of all ages (the littlest ones are welcome to join us and play in the nursery). We meet at 9:30 a.m. on Mondays. Mondays with Moms meets to study and discuss several books throughout the year, women are welcome to join us at any point throughout the year! We will finish up Max Lucado's Cast of Characters and be starting a new book in February. Again, stop by anytime!

    MOPS: MOTHERS OF PRESCHOOLERS

    Our MOPS group meets every other Wednesday at Word of Peace. MOPS is a place where others of children birth to school age can come and experience authentic community, personal growth, practical help and spiritual hope. At MOPS you'll be welcomed, accepted and inspired to reach your full potential and recognize your influence within your family and the world. This year we will explore MomSense: A Common-Sense Guide to Confident Mothering.

    WOMEN OF FAITH

    VIA DE CRISTO

    Weekend Retreats (Thurs—Sunday)

    Do you want to truly understand the unconditional love that Christ has for you? Via de Cristo is a three-day weekend designed to strengthen and renew the faith of Christian people and bring them to a new awareness of living in God’s grace. Participants live, study, worship and commune together daily. The weekend includes powerful presentations, music and singing, food and fellowship, a time for laughter and a time for prayer. It is an experience that helps reveal the unconditional love that Christ has for all of us. Weekends begin on Thursday and end Sunday morning. Men and Women attend separate weekend retreats.     Instructor Marilee Maxwell will lead yoga classes free of charge at Word of Peace. Each exercise is adaptable for varying skill levels. Please bring a yoga mat and wear comfortable clothing. Everyone is welcome, come when you can!
